![]() On New Year’s Eve, the resort's Bob's Steak & Chop House will feature a lavish dinner, with live entertainment and a champagne toast at midnight. This year, the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is offering two fun events to say ‘goodbye’ to this year and ‘hello’ to the next. If you haven’t made plans yet, here are a few of the top New Year’s Eve events in Carlsbad: Omni La Costa Resort & Spa - Bob’s Steak & Chop House and Recovery Brunch at Vue I expected better from a Richard Blais restaurant.Whether you're looking to enjoy a gourmet meal and live entertainment, or to start the new year with some exercise and fresh air, there are plenty of options to choose from. Even though my food was good the prices were way too high. This was my first time to the restaurant and I was very underwhelmed. I had the carrot cake sandwich and our friends shared the chocolate moose. The beat salad that our friend ordered was really small but tasted good. The chicken was dry the rest of the salad was nothing special. My husband ordered the Wedge salad with chicken. Essentially it was a whole cauliflower with tomato sauce and some other ingredientes. There was only one main course item that I could order. What I got was essentially a lemonade with some mint thrown in, it was not a mojito. I don't drink alcohol so I ordered a virgin mojito. The waitress was great! Very attentive and knew her stuff. We waited for about 5 more mins for her to show up and be then we were seated. find that the hostess had disappeared again. Then the rest of our part showed up only to. Since our whole party was not there yet we could not sit so we had to wait in the lobby area where the furniture was very uncomfortable. The hostess was not present when we arrived. So my advice to you, if your hostess brings you down the hall to your left and seats you at the corner table in front of the open doorway looking at the wine fridge and stacked glasses, GET UP AND LEAVE. It was truly a disappointing end to what was a actually a really great day at the hotel. The restaurant was not full, we were not begging for a table, there is no reason to even have that table there because you are only giving your customer a bad experience. Am I being a brat? maybe, but we were trying to have a celebratory dinner and for me, at $500 for a meal (we come from the hospitality industry so we tip very generously) is a lot off money. I have never actually been so effected by my seating situation. ![]() My son got the Cinnabun dessert to go and we were out of there. ![]() We got a beet salad and avocado/tuna tostada (tuna app at $24 was quite pricey) for apps which were good and also the lamb spring roll. The fries were decent and the steak, thank goodness, was high quality. The Carrots were way over salted and also drenched and swimming in way too much sauce. The Chinese Broccoli which was drenched in a gross brown sauce, ruining the actual flavor of the vegetable. I got the chicken which was tasty yet raw at the bone. The family ordered the 'Thors Hammer Cut' steak at $180. Unfortunately the food did not make it better or 'worth' it. I wanted to move tables but my family felt that would be embarrassing (teenagers) so I 'dealt' with it. So yes, I spent my entire $500 meal watching the bussers wash and arrange glasses behind my daughters head, while also getting a cold draft up my legs from the open entry way in front of me. Corner booth where I had a server station directly on my left and my view was of a wall to the near right and the bussers station directly in front of me. ![]() As soon as we were seated I realized we had to have the absolute worst seat in the house. We were treating ourselves and our teenage children to a fancy, expensive, holiday meal. Made a reservation through the hotel Concierge for Sat. We were staying at Aviara for the weekend.
